Honestly, I don’t bother with New Year’s resolutions. I view them as a rather pointless exercise – especially seeing as most are forgotten or abandoned within the first couple of weeks of the new year.
Resolutions are nothing more than goals that have no real action plan attached. Proper goals require hard work, commitment and sacrifice. They require change. And change, regardless of the size, is hard!
Enter this month’s recommended read – Sw!tch.
In a Nutshell
Filled with interesting real-world applications of the techniques described, the book outlines why people are resistant to change, along with some tips on how to stick to the change when the going gets tough.
While it’s perhaps skewed more towards change in a corporate setting, Sw!tch contains some valuable pearls of wisdom if you’re looking to understand your own resistance to situations which take you out of your comfort zone. (Hint: regardless of the change, you need buy-in from those affected.)
So, change things up in 2020. Instead of kicking off the year with pointless resolutions, opt to buy and read Sw!tch instead.
